GrpTXT and spam
"At GrpTXT we believe in promoting SafeTXT"

GrpTXT is a “permission” based text service. GrpTXT must only be used for sending messages to recipients who have consented to receiving such messages.  All advertising and correspondence with members of your groups should include instructions on how to remove themselves from the group.

Before sending any message using GrpTXT you should ensure that you have carefully read the GrpTXT terms and conditions relating to advertising and message content.

Tips on SafeTXT

Ensure all individuals have consented to being a member of your group
Only send messages of a type and nature that recipients would have a reasonable expectation of receiving
Ensure that the person who authorised the sending of the message is identified
Ensure that members of your group are aware of how they can remove themselves from the group

All advertising regarding a group must clearly state:

  • the name of the person, company or organisation responsible for the advertising
  • how an individual can join and leave the group
  • that all messages initiated by an individual will incur their network provider's standard text message fee
  • the cost (if any) to the member of receiving a message from the group
  • that a member is subject to the GrpTXT terms and conditions set out at www.grptxt.co.nz
Immediately action all requests to be removed from a group
Do not give misleading information with respect to a group and/or any associated costs
Do not send spam
Comply with the GrpTXT terms and conditions

What is spam?

Spam is unsolicited commercial text messages, or a text message sent to a recipient who would not have a reasonable expectation of receiving the message.

Reporting spam

If you have received an unwanted or unsolicited text message that you believe may have been sent using GrpTXT, please report it to us immediately. In the event that GrpTXT receives any complaint, GrpTXT may require you to supply a copy of the relevant text message.

GrpTXT and spam

GrpTXT takes the problem of spam very seriously, and will not allow its services to be used for the sending of text related spam. Our terms and conditions do not allow the sending of spam, and include penalties for such activity.  Anyone using GrpTXT to spam members of a group, or send inappropriate messages to individuals, may have their account and related groups suspended and/or terminated.
